18. In order to achieve the ultimate objective of the Convention as contained in its Article 2, the long-term global goal is set

(a) as
(i) a global temperature increase limited to [lower than] [2 oC] [1.5 oC] above the pre-industrial level [with a probability greater than 50 per cent];
(ii) a stabilization of GHG concentrations in the atmosphere at [[well below 350] [400] [not more than 450] [450] [least 450] ppm carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2 eq)] [450 ppm carbon dioxide equivalent or lower].
(b) For this purpose, the Parties should collectively reduce global emissions by at least [50] [71-81] [85] [more than 85] [at least 95] per cent below 1990 levels by 2050.
